The Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) of Mexico City reported the arrest of a man accused of sexual abuse after he was allegedly involved in the harassment of at least three women in the capital, including President Claudia Sheinbaum. According to the agency's statement, the incident occurred during patrols by traffic control personnel when a 25-year-old woman requested assistance, reporting that a man had inappropriately touched her. Officers secured her safety and launched a search operation, locating the alleged perpetrator. The 33-year-old man was apprehended near Paseo de la Condesa based on the victim's complaint and direct identification. Law enforcement officials informed him of his constitutional rights and transferred him to the Public Ministry's Office for Sexual Crime Investigation, where his legal status will be determined. Initial investigations indicate that the detainee is likely linked to the harassment of President Sheinbaum, which took place on Tuesday, November 4th, when a man hugged her without consent while she was walking in the Historic Center heading to the Secretariat of Public Education. He is also accused of being connected to another harassment case that occurred the same day on BolĂvar and Tacuba streets. During her morning press conference on Wednesday, the head of state confirmed that she had filed a formal complaint with the Mexico City Prosecutor's Office. "This is something I experienced as a woman, but it is something that all women in our country experience. No one should violate our personal space," Sheinbaum stated.
